And I'm just sitting here now like "well, define 'a bit'??"
[Even then I was apologising for abandoning you all.]
But, y'know, I stuck by the "I will return to my blog eventually" part? So everything's good and I will never ever behave in such an irresponsible manner ever again. Ever. Obviously.
With that, I should mention...
...this will be a short post. Because it's not going to be about me
This post will be about you.
You, the amazing, fascinating, and downright inspirational people of the blogosphere whom I abandoned for
I know so much has happened while I was gone. I kNOW it has. But I haven't actually been game to look, so far. Because I'm the type of person who needs to know EVERYTHING and much as I'd like to I simply can't read all the posts that went up while I was gone and now I'm afraid I've missed so much wonderful stuff.
So. This post is where I beg you to comment and tell me the highlights of the blogosphere happenings.
Think of it as
*Also someone please tell me if that "whom" was correct or if I should indeed have used "who". ("And don't take away my writer's license, I promise it's a one-off slip of the mind," I lie.)
A few specific things I was also wondering:
- Who in the blogging world has put a new book out?
- How did you all go with Camp NaNo in July?
- And where is that Friendly Neighbourhood Journal at??
JEM YOU'VE RETURNED!!! I'VE MADE YOU COOKIES!!! *hands you plate of cookies*
ReplyDeleteI haven't released a book yet, so there's that. I would have, last week actually, if things went according to plan, but they didn't. And that's okay. :D
I didn't do camp nano
Shouting out my posts would be odd. I bet you have a lot of unread posts in your blogger feed. XD
Okay... shouting out Gray's post where she exposes what her blogging style is. (She also low-key stole my idea for a post, but that's totally fine because she's awesome, so she can do that. XD) Here's the link. :D
https://graymariewrites.blogspot.com/2018/08/exposed-how-i-really-blog.html
(I would eat the generously-offered cookies, but I only eat biscuits... xP)
DeleteSorry to hear your book release didn't go as planned, Ivie! But I'm sure it will work out better in the end - sometimes God makes us wait, right?
Ugh, I'm not even game to look at my blogger feed! And I would feel the same about shouting out my posts - which is why I appreciate you sharing others' posts. I'll definitely have a look at Gray's!
This made me smile. Nice to see you back, Jem! :) I've actually been rather neglectful of the blogging world myself lately so I'm afraid I can't think of any posts to share right off the top of my head. (Sorry.) But I just wanted you to know that I really enjoyed this post. And I hope the past few months have been good months for you! Have a good night (or whatever time of day it is in your neck of the woods. ;))
ReplyDelete~Miss March
Miss March! It's been a while since I've 'spoken' to you - nice to hear from you again! The months I was gone had their quiet and hectic moments, but they certainly weren't bad months. Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you have a lovely day (or similar ;) too. <3
Deletei've not put out any book, but i've been tossing down new poetry weekly ( or I try to.) May eventually try put put poetry together into a poetry book but . that would require a LOT of selecting and deciding! I figured out it is NOT always the best idea to be too graphicly dark on my posts and have been trying to write less excssivly dark content. I just started my 2nd fall semester of college and life is slowly getting more and more crazy.
ReplyDeleteWriting poetry every week sounds like an awesome habit, Evan! (I should work on my stories more often... procrastination is a bad habit I need to break.) And I think having some light content with the dark would make both more complex, in a good way, if that make sense?
DeleteI certainly sympathise with life getting crazy - I hope college is going well regardless!
I updated my blog a bit, changed the background, and removed the longtime blog title, Life , and replaced it with Choose Life. And i'm as of now not sure what to write. Just a few minor edits on my blog.
ReplyDeleteUpdating a blog can be fun! (and also suck up a huge amount of time, in my experience... ;) I'll have to stop by sometime and check out the new look!
DeleteJem!!!!!!!! I’ve seriously missed you so much. <3 I’ve been thinking about you ALLLL the time.
ReplyDeleteLet’s see...I did July Camp NaNo and wrote 58k in the third book in my series, and I’ve finished editing the first book and have sent it to alphas. I got a job! So that’s been interesting! Otherwise...not much going on with me.
Everybody’s Realm Makers wrapups have been amazing to read lately! I’m really hoping I get to go next year. <3 and of course, I’m hoping to pitch my book there...
Christine Smith started a new WIP! Rebellious Writing had its first blogoversary! And...I’m going on a total social media hiatus.
So! That’s about all I can come up with at the moment. XD welcome back—we’ve missed you so much!
I'm seriously touched, Faith! <3
DeleteYou sound like you've been so productive... *pained laughter* (People who can write series intimidate me, honestly. xD) What kind of job did you get, if you don't mind my asking?
Oh, I missed the Real Makers posts? On the one hand, they're awesome (and it's so cool to see photos of the bloggy people gathering and getting in costume and stuff!). On the other hand... AUSTRALIA. So. ;P
And I missed Rebellious Writing's blogoversary too! And hahahaaa... yep, sounds about right for my timing that I'd come back just as you left for your own hiatus. xD Well, Faith, I hope you have a good time, living life, and come back refreshed!
YAY! YOU'RE BACK!!!!! *confetti and dark chocolate party* *apologies if you don’t like dark chocolate*
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Faith, but for some reason forgot to click follow????? I don’t know anymore. So yeah. That’s why you don’t recognize me around here. :)
Hmmmmmmmm, notable posts . . . aaaaand, my memory is failing me, so no idea on that. Sorry. But I do know that the Get to Know Me tag - Writer's Edition swept through the blogosphere as of late. Those were fun to read!
Well, welcome back! (Unless you really ARE Loki . . . in which case, see you sometime????)
Hmmm... *nibbled dark chocolate cautiously* *throws lamingtons at you in exchange*
DeleteHi, Nicole! Welcome to my awkward, crazy part of the internet, and I look forward to seeing more of you around here in future! (that is in no way any sort of threat. Just a strong suggestion. With a possible bribe of lamingtons.)
My memory also has a habit of blinking out when it gets asked what's been going on, so I'll let you off the hook on that question. xD
And I have to ask - is your profile picture from The Silver Eye??
No, it’s Cress. But wait - YOU'VE READ THE SILVER EYE?????? I just found it and bingeread it in a week!!! THIS IS WONDERFUL!!
Delete(Ah, it looked a little like the style.) THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I DID, THO. Bingeread the whole thing and then moped because there wasn't any more. xD
DeleteYOU'RE BACK! xD I hope you had a relaxing + refreshing hiatus!
ReplyDeleteumm, well, I started my blog :D it took awhile, but it's up, :)-- allisonriera.blogspot.com.
and Abbiee announced she's self publishing her book sometime next summer! http://www.abbiee.com/2018/08/11-interesting-facts-about-me/
glad you're back! <3
Well, if it wasn't a relaxing hiatus, I only have my [constantly-buzzing] brain to blame... ;P
DeleteCool! I'll definitely check out your blog, Allison! And I'll have to check out Abbiee's news, too. Thanks for dropping the links! :D
Okay here's what's been going on my blog!!...
ReplyDeleteNOTHING. Because I went on hiatus WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE. and then came back and tried to post but FAILED so I went on hiatus again. :')
And tbh I'm behind on reading/commenting everyone's post because I've been on a low-key hiatus so I think I'm gonna stalk the comments and see what's been goin' on. ;P
(I also scrolled through my blogger feed and here are a few posts I liked)
http://totallygraced.blogspot.com/2018/08/99-things-i-learned-from-senior-year.html
http://the-introverted-extrovert.blogspot.com/2018/08/how-are-you-for-real.html
http://sunshineandscribblings.blogspot.com/2018/08/s-u-m-m-e-r-18-life-update-leaving-for.html
HIGH FIVE for random unannounced hiatuses and the struggles of breaking out of them. :') I sympathise completely. Feel free to use the comments on this post to help you catch up, if you so desire (we may as well do so together!). And thanks for dropping those links here for me, Zane! I'll check those out. :)
DeleteMissed ya, girl!!!! I'm glad you're back, because I'm sick and tired of thinking I should email you and then forgetting to do so...but you were missed.
ReplyDeleteBut now that you've asked, every single exciting thing that's happened has suddenly vanished from my mind.
Um...we're all still alive, for the most part...
I'm always thinking I need to email people and forgetting, so no judgement from me - and I'm touched to know you missed me!
DeleteAnd that always happens too... never mind, I shall have to check your blog and see what's been going on there, Julian! (Good to hear you're all still alive too... ;)
Welcome back to the blogosphere!!! :D
ReplyDelete-Brooklyne
Thanks, Brooklyne! I'll try not to disappear again too soon. ;)
DeleteYayyyyy you're back!!! :D I'm actually not sure where the Friendly Neighbourhood Journal is, but since we're both in Aus, I think we might be near the end of the list... But! Project Canvas is due to be released soon! Finally, yay! I can't think of anything too exciting happening on my blog, other than reaching 150 posts. xD
ReplyDeleteIt does seem likely that Australia'd be near the end - I just thought that people were going to be posting photos of themselves with it when they got it? (I don't know, I was just looking forward to seeing photos of excited people... ;P) And I'd forgotten about Project Canvas's book! You have some writing in there, don't you, Melissa? About worldbuilding?
DeleteAnd 150 posts is a lot! Congratulations :)
JEM IS BACK!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've missed your posts! So excited you've returned!! :D
(Also, yes, I'm pretty certain that "whom" is indeed correct. XD)
She's back... whether she'll manage to stay is another matter..... ;)
Delete(Ah, thank you, Lila! I like grammar, but "who" and "whom" is something that just never stuck for me.)
Honestly, I was beginning to worry that something happened, so I'm glad to read that you're okay. ^_^
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
Eep, sorry to make you worry, Gray! I'm absolutely fine, just... uh... a potent blend of procrastinator and lazy?
DeleteWelcome back, Jem! Missed you ever so much :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I got a new job - so I disappeared for a little bit. It was crazy. Bit better now that my hours are reduced. I also attempted to standardize my notes system for all 8 of my WIPs during Camp NaNo - that was even MORE crazy....
Catherine
Oh, you got a new job, Catherine? What kind of job is it, if you don't mind me asking? And I found myself so much more relaxed once I'd had my Saturday hours cut [that makes it sound like I was working 6 days a week. I wasn't.], so I know what it feels like!
DeleteA standardised note system sounds so cool! (I love organising...) Are the WIPs in a series, or unrelated?
You're back! *throws confetti* IT HAS BEEN SO LONG. While you've been away, my short story "Dear Jamie, Love Rory" was published by One Teen Story! =D Realm Makers happened, so lots of people have doing lovely wrap-ups on that. Skye Hoffert of Ink Calamities won Rooglewood Press and is going to have her novella published. I'm having a hard time thinking of other things... Glad to see you back! =D
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool that your story's published! Congratulations, Micaiah! *throws more confetti back*
DeleteAnd congrats to Skye too - that was the last Rooglewood Press competition, I think I read?
It's nice to "see" you again xDD Um.....I'm still breathing but I think that's all that's really been going on again.....
ReplyDelete~Ceci
Nice to "see" you too, Ceci - and there's nothing wrong with just breathing... sounds relaxing. ;)
DeleteJem!! I was just thinking of you and your posts the other day. It's lovely to hear from you again. :) Don't feel bad for taking a break - I know how easy it is to do, and it's refreshing to have some time off. Hope you're going well! xx
ReplyDeleteP.s Yes, I'm pretty sure 'whom' is correct. But 'who' sounds okay as well! So much for confusing grammar rules. XD
I'm touched to hear that, Jessica! I'm well (with such a long break, I should be ;) and hoping you are too. <3
Delete(I like grammar, but who/whom is just confusing... xD)
JEM!!!!! *tackle hugs* I HAVE MISSED YOU, YOU WONDERFUL BEAN!!!!! Unfortunately I really can't think of any amazing posts that I've written to share.... Aha. XD But Christine from Musings of An Elf literally JUST put out a post titled For The Love Of Writing, and I 10/10 recommend checking that out because it is PHENOMENAL. It has helped me SO MUCH in rediscovering my love of writing... I really want everyone to read it. XD
ReplyDeleteAs for the questions you asked...I have not put a new book out. Aha. XD But I DID just write a 198 word Micro Short Story for a writing competition, so that totally counts, right? XD I also did not compete in Camp NaNo for July (it was a break month for me) and I have no clue what the Friendly Neighborhood Journal is. SO! #funtimes
BUT I AM SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY YOU ARE BACK!!!!!
I AM INDEED A WONDERFUL MAGIC DISAPPEARING BEAN. (I shall check out Christine's post! Honestly I could do with rediscovering my love of writing... haven't done any for a while.)
Delete198 words?? I find flash fiction super hard, personally, so I'm more than willing to count it instead of a book. xP
Ah, the Friendly Neighbourhood Journal was something set up by - I forget, it's been so long - Caroline Meek, and Aimee Meester? Basically bloggers signed up, when the journal arrived in the post they'd write/scrapbook/etc a page, and then they'd post it to the address they were given for the next blogger.
